Fighting Child Poverty with Openmind Projects
By the Openmind Projects Team
Without improving the education of poor children with the largest needs and the least support, a society is not at risk but in decline.
Millions of Thai, Laos, Burmese, Khmer children grow up poor. But poverty does not mean they do not deserve to succeed! Our ambition is to help these children leave despair for hope and dreams. We believe introducing technology and digital learning can make a big difference and make them love to learn, build confidence and develop the skills critical to succeed in the 21st century.
We like to share ideas and experiences we have made together with our volunteers when helping young people in Southeast Asia. You are welcome to do so too! Email [email protected]
If the goal is to create life long learners and problem solvers we need to go beyond traditional teaching, like memorizing facts, and instead help young people to learn the skills that require thinking, understanding and using the facts, not just memorizing for exams. While we can’t think critically without knowledge, we won't work successfully if we can’t solve problems and team work with other people.
Our focus is to help underprivileged children leave poverty and become confident by successfully acquire important skills like collaboration, communication, critical and creative thinking.
By letting young students take more control of their learning, we will help them become lifelong learners, the most vital quality in a changing world.
Welcome to contact us, learn more about how we work and how you can help!
